Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil has accepted responsibility for leading the troubled singer into a dangerous world of drugs and self-harming.
Blake, who has recently been released from prison, says that rumours that their marriage is over are true, but only because he wants her to get clean without distraction.
He said that he feels distraught whenever he sees pictures of denim-loving Amy looking worse for wear.
"I dragged Amy into it and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful," Blake told the News of the World in an interview.
"Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love."
Blake denied that he was leaving Amy for German model Sophie Schandorff, saying that she means nothing to him and just wants to get her face in the papers.
He added that he still loves Amy "more than anyone else in the world".
