Beyonce Knowles may be a style icon with a wardrobe most girls would die for nowadays, but she hasn't always been so fashion-savvy.
The 27-year-old said that when she was growing up, she did not make the most of her fabulously feminine curves, preferring to dress like a bloke.
"Growing up, I was a tomboy. I refused to carry a purse and wouldn't wear a dress," the bootylicious babe told In Style mag.
"That was the eighties and it was all about the hip-hop influence - baggy jeans and big shirts. [My mother] hated it!"
The Crazy in Love singer also revealed some unlikely style icons in the shape of Cher and Diana Ross.
Beyonce said that she loved their style because they always gave you drama through their clothes.
In terms of modern day celebs, Beyonce said that she admired the elegant style sense of Hollywood actresses Charlize Theron and Halle Berry.
