Becks blasts WAGs

You might expect David Beckham to be the last person to criticise football WAGs, given that he is married to WAG queen Victoria.

However speaking to GMTV, Becks said that the publicity-hungry wives and girlfriends of football's biggest stars were taking the focus away from the beautiful game.

Victoria, who is rarely seen without perilously high footwear, has made the most of the WAG lifestyle, embracing fame and fortune on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nevertheless, her handsome hubby says he has never cared about anything more than "winning and being successful".

"WAGs got out of hand. It should always be about the football," Digital Spy quoted him as saying.

He added: "There's always going to be criticism of footballers - they're very high-profile and paid a lot of money."
