Amelle Berrabah from the Sugababes has blasted critics of her plummeting weight, saying that she's been through a stressful period.
The 24-year-old pop star made headlines at the end of 2007 when her boyfriend Freddie Fuller was the victim of a horrific machete attack.
The sexy songstress said that, of course, she dropped a few pounds during the traumatic episode and didn't appreciate the sly comments she received.
"I was going through a lot of stress - my boyfriend was attacked and nearly died - and the weight just fell off me," Digital Spy quotes Amelle as saying.
"I had some horrible comments. People were saying, 'She's anorexic'. I just thought, 'You don't know what I'm going through'. I almost lost a stone and I hated the way I looked."
Amelle said that she had to eat "like an animal" to put the weight back on and gorged loads of chocolate although it wasn't enjoyable at all.
