Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil was sentenced to 27 months in jail at Snaresbrook Crown Court in East London yesterday, but the troubled singer didn't even turn up to see him go down.
Blake (26) admitted grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice after helping to badly beat up pub landlord James King before trying to bribe him to keep quiet about the assault by offering him £200,000 of his successful wife's money.
Since Blake has already served nine months on remand, he could be released in as little as four and a half months if he behaves himself behind bars.
Blake's lawyer Jeremy Dein QC told the court that his client was dedicated to his wife, although lots of fans will see the facts as further proof that he is using Amy and is a bad influence on her.
Mr Dein said: "It's their ambition to divorce themselves from hard drugs, not to separate themselves from each other," adding that Blake "was of exemplary good character".
But Judge David Radford interrupted the lawyer, saying: "No previous convictions rather than exemplary good character, if what I read about him and the use of drugs is true."
He added that Blake had acted in a "gratuitous, cowardly and disgraceful" way.
