Scarlett Johansson was noted by her absence in Cannes this week.
The 23-year-old star was due to fly to the French Rivera to launch her new film alongside director Woody Allen and co-stars Penelope Cruz and Rebecca Hall.
However, the two brunettes shone on the red carpet alone after the studio behind Vicky Cristina Barcelona refused to bow to Scarlett's diva-like demands.
Warner Brothers were prepared to fly the actress out to France, but said no to her requests for exclusive use of a hair stylist and makeup artists.
Apparently, Scarlett wasn't prepared to share the same team as Penelope and Rebecca, with her people engaged in lengthy discussions with the studio.
The choice of hotel was another gripe for the actress, who has recently moved into the world of music. While the rest of the cast and crew pitched up in the centre of Cannes, she wanted to stay in a secluded resort some 20 miles or so away.
"It was crazy. Penelope and Rebecca were going to be working very hard and it wasn't acceptable that Scarlett would be having to come in from that distance every day, most likely turning up late and it would have thrown schedules into a lot of confusion," an insider told the Daily Mail.
Despite Scarlett's absence, the film has been lauded by critics and received a standing ovation on its first screening.
