Scarlett Johansson has announced that she is engaged to marry her Canadian actor boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, who she has been dating for the past year.
The 23-year-old beauty has kept her relationship with the 31-year-old Definitely, Maybe star relatively low key, but she wore a big diamond ring teamed with her couture cream strapless dress when she attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City last night.
Scarlett's representative Marcel Pariseau confirmed that the couple are set to wed, saying: "They are both thrilled."
Meanwhile Australian actor and Scarlett's Scoop co-star Hugh Jackman has given his blessing to the wedding, saying: "Ryan Reynolds is one of the funniest guys I've ever met. And we had a really good chat about his girlfriend, because I'm very fond of Scarlett.
"Both my wife Deborra-Lee Furness and I are very proprietary about Scarlett, but Ryan gets a big thumbs up from me! I'm giving my blessing - Ryan is phenomenal."
