Mariah Carey has said that she and her new husband Nick Cannon are "soulmates".
Speaking exclusively to People magazine, Mariah said: "We really do feel we are soulmates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me."
Meanwhile Mariah's 27-year-old husband was full of praise for his bride, saying: "She is beautiful on the outside and ten times as beautiful on the inside."
The diva married singer and actor Nick, who appears in the video for her new single Bye Bye, in a private ceremony in the Bahamas last week.
It is the 39-year-old singer's second marriage as she was wed to Sony record executive Tommy Mottola, the man who made her a star, for five years.
Despite the fact that the couple had only been dating for a matter of weeks before they tied the knot, US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey said that Mariah's marriage to Nick has not been as much of a surprise as has been reported.
Oprah explained that she had seen Mariah shortly before the wedding and the singer "already had a tattoo on her back that said 'Mrs Cannon'".
