Paris Hilton has admitted that making new friends is a challenge for her because she can never be sure whether people are really interested in her or just want to be famous.
The 27-year-old socialite has just launched her new MTV reality show called Paris Hilton's My New BFF (Best Friend Forever).
In the show, Paris will choose from hundreds of contenders to try and find a new bessie mate.
The heiress, who was once BFFs with Nicole Ritchie, then the pair had an infamous falling out, then they made up again and are now dating twin brothers, admits that her past experiences have helped her to tell when people are fake.
"It is really hard because you're not really sure if people want to be friends with you for the right reasons or they just want to be famous," Paris explained.
"So it's hard to figure that out, but I can figure it out now. If you are burned a couple of times in life you definitely learn from your mistakes."
