Katie hits out at 'polo snobbery'

Katie Price has never been one to take an insult lying down and now she has hit out at the organisers of the Cartier Polo International for not welcoming her to their event.

The 30-year-old model, who is also a keen horse-rider, said that she paid £6,000 for her table in the Chinawhite tent but her manager was told that she was not the sort of person they wanted.

Writing in the comment pages of The Times, Katie explained how she has been riding horses since the age of seven and probably knows far more about the animals "than the toffs who were made welcome".

A furious Katie wrote: "It's pure snobbery. However good a horsewoman I may be, I'm also a glamour model. That embarrassed the organisers."

And citing some popular fictional characters as examples, she added: "Eliza Doolittle went to the races with Henry Higgins after a few elocution lessons, in Pretty Woman Julia Roberts went to the polo straight from Sunset Boulevard, but in the 21st century we have become even more class-ridden. Unless you are a toff or an aspiring actress, they don't want you."
