The younger generation of the Royal Family are increasingly keen to show how normal they are.
After Prince Harry spent time in Afghanistan and Peter Phillips sold his wedding photos to a glossy magazine, Zara Phillips is to make her mark on reality TV.
The equestrian star who has been forced to pull out of the upcoming Olympics in China after an injury to her horse will feature in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Zara, who is the Queen's granddaughter and 12th in line to the throne, will be the first royal to appear on the show.
Insiders at the Beeb are said to be over the moon at the news that actual royalty instead of TV royalty will take part in the Children in Need fundraiser.
A source told the Mirror: "Last year's line-up was pretty strong, but signing a royal is a trump card in the ratings battle.
"Who can resist switching on, just in case Wills and Harry drop in to wish their cousin good luck?"
