Mariah Carey has revealed that she told people her wedding to Nick Cannon was just a video shoot in order to avoid unwanted attention.
The 39-year-old pop superstar married her new love interest in a private ceremony in the Bahamas last week.
Nick stars in Mariah's new video, Bye Bye, so the cunning pair thought that pretending they were simply shooting extra scenes would be believable.
Mariah told People magazine: "We only told people who had to know... If we brought a million people with us, it would've been obvious we weren't shooting a video.
"Only about four people knew we were going down there to get married."
The happy couple explained that boxes of Maine lobster and cases of Dom Perignon champagne were flown over to the island.
Meanwhile the bride apparently picked up the wedding cake herself and discreetly carried it with her.
Rapper Da Brat, Mariah's best friend, also helped to organise a last-minute bachelorette party before she tied the knot on the patio of her island retreat.
