Heroes star Hayden Panettiere has lashed out at Hollywood for its obsession with weight, saying that actresses should not have to feel pressured to be thin.
The 18-year-old has reminded Tinseltown's hot shots that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Hayden, who is dating her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia, said that the size zero culture in the entertainment industry is "tragic" and sets a bad example to other girls.
She said: "Beauty is an opinion, not a fact. The thing that most depresses me is Hollywood's obsession with body image. I just don't get it.
"The size-zero ideal is just ridiculous. The important thing is to feel comfortable with your own shape and not to look at others and feel inferior. It's tragic that girls feel they have to starve themselves to remain skinny."
